Anna's Walk

Anna's Walk

Anna, my beautiful wife lost her battle with bladder cancer in September 2017. It just wasn’t fair. She left behind a devoted husband, two young children Noah, 13 and Manon, 11; and wonderful family and friends. It has turned our world upside down and changed it forever.

Anna was such an inspiration to everyone that knew her, and had an amazing aura about her. A serene calmness, and an attitude of slowing down and just ‘being’ and not always ‘doing’. Very difficult to do in the fast-paced world we all live in. But it rubbed off on all that knew her – this was her legacy

This walk is in memory of Anna, and we are hoping that “Anna’s Walk” will be an annual event. It will celebrate her love of the outdoors, bush-walking and the beach.

Anna's Story

Anna.JPG

Anna, my beautiful wife, lost her battle with bladder cancer in September 2017. It just wasn’t fair; how could someone so healthy, calm, and living in the moment be diagnosed with this awful thing? She left behind a devoted husband, two young children Noah, 13 and Manon, 11; and wonderful family and friends. It has turned our world upside down and changed it forever.

Anna was such an inspiration to everyone that knew her, and had an amazing aura about her. A serene calmness, and an attitude of slowing down and just ‘being’ and not always ‘doing’. She reminded people to see the beauty in every day. Very difficult to do in the fast-paced world we all live in.  But it rubbed off on all that knew her – this was her legacy.

This walk is in memory of Anna

We are hoping that “Anna’s Walk” will be an annual event. It will remind us of her grace, beauty, positivity and determination, and will celebrate her love of the outdoors, bush-walking and the beach.

Please join us on the inaugural Anna's Walk from Narrabeen to Mona Vale Sunday 27th May to:

  • Remember our beautiful Anna
  • Raise money to fund BEAT Bladder Cancer Australia Inc.
  • Start to raise community awareness of bladder cancer
  • Take time out of our busy lives to simply appreciate the beauty all around us.

There will be the opportunity to relax after the walk at Mona Vale surf club where there will be a free BBQ and pay bar. You can stretch your legs, chat about your day and watch the sun set.

How Can we Help?

But how can we help stop this tragic story happening to other families? During her sickness, and in the hope that she would get better, Anna became passionate about creating a greater awareness of bladder cancer. Bladder cancer can be effectively treated if it is found early.

BEAT Bladder Cancer Australia Inc. is a committee of passionate individuals with a broad range of health experience, expertise in bladder cancer, NFP/charity and business experience.

The mission of the committee is to steer forward education, awareness and support, treatment and research into the community. One of the first key projects for BEAT is the creation of a patient driven website. Any funds made from Anna's Walk will go directly to this project which will help also to steer awareness campaigns across NSW. BEAT is an incorporated association in NSW and we aim to extend this further across Australia.

Importantly the community campaigns will raise awareness around Bladder Cancer month in May, with the key message of "If you see blood in the urine, don't delay see your GP today".
